Sir Ralph is one of the most popular characters of our range. He comes from the time of King Richard 1st Coeur De Lyon (the Lion Heart) 1189-1199, Prince later King John and the great folk hero Robin Hood. The good Knight went to the Holy Land on the third crusade in 1190 where he took up medicine. On his way home he attended the great medical school at Salerno in Italy where he completed his training. Back in England he set up as an independent physician.
Still clad in his crusaders surcoat he talks about many of the treatments used at the time and illustrates them during his 30 minute presentation with the use of authentically reproduced artefacts. Whilst his delivery is humorous his facts have been painstakingly researched.
Sir Ralph has also been employed in a wandering role at many prestigious venues as a part of larger events such as the Robin Hood Festival in Nottinghamshire. For any medieval event Sir Ralph of Epperstone is a must.
His talk on early medicine is extremely popular with history groups; WI's; clubs and small groups working with a small budget.
